The mountain is calling

The adventurous athletes of the pewag racing team, Hubert Edelsbacher and Matthias Schintler, did a journey to Saalbach in Salzburg to do one of the biggest (1.100 competitors) and definitively one of the most challenging ski-tour races – the Mountain Attack. For Hubert it was not the first time and he prepared well for the long marathon distance with 3.000 meters of climb. Matthias tried the shorter version which had still 2.000 meters of climb. The race started in the afternoon so that the athletes had to climb in darkness but also go down which is even harder. Hubert as well as Matthias did a great job as they are no specialists in that area of sport. Hubert finished on the 257th place in 4:18:10 h on the long course and Matthias got 146th on the short one in 2:35:17 h. Though Hubert was not that happy after finishing the race he will for sure come again: “My conclusion, I gave everything at my forth start and I was faster than the years before. But it was just a few minutes. The Mountain Attack is for me a little bit like a love-hate.”
