Ironman Texas – Jeremy takes 4th!

Jeremy Jurkiewicz had a great race at the North American Championships this weekend and was able to take the 4th place after Patrick Lange, Matt Russel and Terenzo Bozzone.
Here is his race report:

The swim course was changed because after a thunder storm it was not possible to swim in the canal.
I swam with a lead in a group of 10 athletes.

The bike course was also changed and shortened to 150K. On the bike Starykowicz took the lead very quickly.  After 90km and the pace changed (some times hard some times easy), now we were a group of 20 athletes and stayed together until we reached T2.

I ran out of T2 on 12th place and was 8th at the end of the first lap. I overtook two athletes at the start of second lap and ran with Kotsegarov for the 4th and 5th place.  The end of the second lap was very hard, Rapp, Hanson and Alonso passed me. Some energy came back and I saw Alonso in front of me. I passed him and 1km later Hanson, last years winner, is OUT and  i’m 5th!!  I was only 20″ behind the 4th guy but he didn`t finished the 3rd lap. So i was the lucky one and passed the finishline on 4th place!

Next stop Frankfurt!!
