Thomas Steger wins the Challenge Walchsee

Our new team member Lukasz Wojt had his first race for the team at the olympic distance in Faak am See and was now with Thomas Steger on the starting line of the Challenge Walchsee in Tyrol.

The weather changed dramatically that weekend, 8 degrees, wind and heavy rain led to that the organisers had to shorten the swim and bike course to 1,5k and 60k. Otherwise it would have been too dangerous for the athletes.

Like always, Lukasz was first out of the water, Thomas 90 seconds behind him. In T1 Thomas put on warm clothes and this was a good decision. After some km Lukasz had to end the race because he was completely undercooled. Thomas on the contrary shook a leg and stuck hard on the heels of the leader and last years winner Giulio Molinari. On the run course he got him on the last lap and with one minute in the lead he crossed the finishline!

His thoughts about the race can be seen in a short video message here.

What a great race and what a great performance – we all filled with wonder and congratulate Thomas!!
