When I was about 12/13 years old I was swimming with Lothar Leder who back then was one of the best triathletes, that’s how I got in touch with triathlon. Since then I always wanted to finish an Ironman. A good thing was also that I became a cycling fan and so I started riding quite early in my life. I was traveling to the Tour de France for instant as a fan when I was 16/17 years old and also climbed all the famous mountains in the alps. Back then I didn’t know that it would benefit me a few years later, because it was not the plan to become a pro triathlete. Unfortunately I was never a big fan of running so I didn’t do any running work until I was 32 years old.

The variety of training. As a swimmer I was training up to 12 times 8 km’s a week. So changing up three sports plus some work in the gym is certainly more fun.

My whole family was swimming, my grandfather was even a world record holder in 100 Breaststroke - So there was no other choice for me than to start swimming too. 

So before I started with triathlon I was a swimmer who won medals at international levels and made it to the Olympics.

No goals no life.
